May 20, 1910 Friday evening at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Robert Pulliam near Scottsville, Mr. Stephen Claypool one of the oldest and most prominent citizens of the section, died. He was the father of Messrs.. T.J. Claypool, W.S. Claypool, S.A. Claypool and Mrs. S.W. Francis of Bowling Green. He had one other son and daughter who live in Arkansas. Mr. Claypool was ninety-four years of age and was born at Claypool, Warren County, being one of eighteen children, who founded the large Claypool family of that and adjoining counties. Only one of these children survive, Mr. J.J. Claypool of Oakland. Mr. Claypool had lived nearly all his life in Warren County, having removed to Arkansas many years ago where he lived for a few years. He made his home with his children since the death of his wife several years ago. For the last eight or ten years he stayed with Mrs. Pulliam. He was for many years a prominent figure in Warren County's business life, having been a successful farmer and trader. He was for several terms a member of the fiscal court. He had been for many years an active member of the Christian church a zealous church worker. Even though he lived far betond the allotted time of life his death came as a shock to his family and friends. He was buried near Claypool, Warren County, by Undertaker Crowe, at the Rocky Springs Baptist Church Cemetery last Sunday.
