Madden, 80, husband of Edna (Harriman) Madden, died peacefully Aug. 5, 2013, at Orono Commons health care facility, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born April 27, 1933, in Greenfield son of Guy and Pansy (Faulkner) Madden. He graduated from Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton and served four years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. Madden, 80, husband of Edna (Harriman) Madden, died peacefully Aug. 5, 2013, at Orono Commons health care facility, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He was born April 27, 1933, in Greenfield son of Guy and Pansy (Faulkner) Madden. He graduated from Ricker Classical Institute in Houlton and served four years in the U.S. Air Force as an aircraft mechanic during the Korean War. He worked at the mill in Great Works as a foreman all his life, retiring in 1989. While he was working at the mill he also owned his own wood logging operation, construction, S.D. Madden & Daughters, and snowplowing businesses. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, bee keeping, wood working, and running his farm, the "Always Behind Farm." He was a member of the Old Town Masonic Star In The East No. 60 and The American Legion No. 84 in Orono. Surviving in addition to his wife of 53 years, are two daughters, Julie (Madden) Eugley and husband, Reggie, and Wanda Madden, both of Greenfield Township; two grandsons, David Eugley and Daniel Legere; and two granddaughters, Rachel Eugley and Janelle Legere all of Greenfield Township. He is also survived by two brothers, Hollis Madden and wife, Barbie, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Carroll Madden and wife, Veda, of Greenbush; sister, Sharon (Madden) Bobalek and husband, Stephen, of Topsham; along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and his sister and brother-in-law, Maxine (Madden) and Roy Quint of Hodgdon. Graveside service will be at Greenfield Cemetery, on Crocker Turn Road.
