Description	:	Stephen Douglas Clements Sr died June 11, 2020, at the home of his son Stephen Clements Jr. He was born in Belfast Dec. 5, 1948, grew up in Swanville and graduated with honors from Crosby High School. He earned his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude at the University of Maine in Orono, majoring in anthropology and mathematics, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Read More	Stephen Douglas Clements Sr died June 11, 2020, at the home of his son Stephen Clements Jr. He was born in Belfast Dec. 5, 1948, grew up in Swanville and graduated with honors from Crosby High School. He earned his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude at the University of Maine in Orono, majoring in anthropology and mathematics, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He enjoyed all sports, particularly baseball, and was a Red Sox fan like his father. He was a well -rounded reader, had a great memory and was able to come up with a story about most anything. He is fondly remembered for his terrific sense of humor, love of a good joke or story and a good laugh with friends. He was a card player and particularly enjoyed bridge and poker games with friends and family. He held various jobs, but for the last 40 years he was sexton of Greenlawn Cemetery in Swanville, as well as surrounding cemeteries. Greenlawn held a special place in his heart, as many of his Swanville family ancestors are buried there. He was skilled in building and restoring stone walls, some of which can be seen and appreciated around Swanville cemeteries. He lived his life true to himself, genuine in all ways, never lost his thirst for learning and doted with great affection on his grandchildren. He was adored and will be dearly missed. He was predeceased by his parents Charles and Margaret Littlefield, his son Donald Cushman, his siblings Charles Everett Clements, Adelaide Gray, Fannie Brazier, John Clements , Nicholas Clements and Sherman Clements, as well as a nephew, John Gray, niece Catherine Stone and a cousin, Parker Clements. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law Ashley Gray and Charles Packer and sister-in-law Jacklyn Clements. He leaves behind his children, Stephen Clements Jr and significant other Danielle Michaud, Shawn Clements and Cheri Cushman; also, his sisters Rita Stone, Judith Packer, Cynthia Brasslett; sister-in-law Marta Clements; brother-in-law Gary Brasslett, and a cousin, Gordon Clements, and wife Lucille Clements. Stephen was a devoted grandfather with a special relationship with his grandchildren, Luke Cushman-Cole, Garth Clements, Malerie Clements, Haley Clements, Brady Clements and Rhiannon Clements; and great- granddaughter Jaylynn Clements. He is survived by eight nieces, four nephews, and good friends too many to name. A celebration of life for Steve will be held at 10 a.m. July 12 at Greenlawn Cemetery. Immediately following, there will be a gathering at Steve's home at 626 Swan Lake Ave., Swanville, for a period of sharing with friends and family.
