Burial will be made in the Cass Center cemetery. He was a member of the drum corps here for 50 years, and on his eightieth birthday the drum corps from Mason City came to this city to help him celebrate. Stephen Douglas Pringle was born in Keokuk county Oct. 26, 1860, his parents being Thomas and Nancy Welch Pringle. His education was acquired in the rural schools and he remained at home with his father, helping on the farm until he was 23 years old at which time he married and began farming for himself. Buys Farm For 16 years he engaged in farming 120 acres of land which he had previously purchased in Wright county, but at the expiration of that time he sold his farm and bought 102 acres in Cass township, Hamilton county. He sold this place in 1898 and purchased 184 acres also in Cass township. Feb. 22, 1893, he was married to Miss Nettie Segar. She died in 1887 and April 14, 1888, Mr. Pringle married Miss Mary Segar, a sister of his former wife. Mr. and Mrs. Pringle were active members of the United Brethren church. He was class leader and Sunday school superintendent for several years and also served as trustee and steward. The Family In politics he was a democrat, but had never been identified with any official position. A daughter, Elva May Kirchner, died in 1930. He leaves his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Adrian Schumaker, of Clarion, and four granddaughters, Mrs. Donald Gregory, Mary Ann Kirchner, Donald Mae and Mary Ann Schumaker, a grandson, John Gregory, and a brother, H.E. Pringle, of this city.
