The burial locations of these three children have yet be found. ---------------- Stephen Etienne Bies left his homeland in 1868, boarding a ship named the Cordova and he arrived in the United States on 17 April 1868. In 1870, he and his wife lived in Holland, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin. According to the census, they had seven children: John, Dominick, John Baptist, Schrompeter, Michael, Joseph and Frank. By 1880, the family relocated to Washington, Winneshiek Co., Iowa. Three more children were born by this time: Anna (age 9), John (age 4) and Theodore (age 8mo). In 1900, Stephen and Anna were living in Salem, McCook County, South Dakota with three of their sons: John, Joseph and Theodore. Stephen was a farmer and his sons were likely farm laborers, helping their father manage the farm. Anna died not long after, on 15 March 1901 and was buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Salem. Stephen remained in the area based on the 1905 South Dakota Census but by 1910, he was living in Fayette County, Iowa. The 1910 census indicates that he was a retired farmer by that time. Stephen Etienne Bies died 14 May 1911 in Saint Lucas, Fayette County, Iowa and was buried in Saint Luke's Catholic Cemetery.
