Puffinbarger Stephen Girard Puffinbarger was born Sept. 7, 1854, near Abingdon, Iowa, and passed away near Selma, Iowa, April 5, 1926, aged 71 years, 6 months and 28 days. He was the eldest of five children of David and Nancy Puffinbarger, who came to Iowa as pioneers. All have passed away but one brother John, who lives in Kansas but was unable to come and be present at the funeral. Puffinbarger Stephen Girard Puffinbarger was born Sept. 7, 1854, near Abingdon, Iowa, and passed away near Selma, Iowa, April 5, 1926, aged 71 years, 6 months and 28 days. Stearns and Chas Puffinbarger of Selma, and Mrs John W. Jones of Ottumwa, Io. Besides the children and brother he leaves to mourn his departure 19 grandchildren and other relatives and many friends. Almost his entire life was spent in and near Selma. His wife passed away June 12, 1907, and since then has lived at the old home most of the time with some of the children or grandchildren near to help care for him. He joined the Christian church under the pastorate of Rev. Shephard in Selma in 1894. Steve, as he was familiarly called by his neighbors and friends, was of jovial disposition, kind hearted, and generous and will be greatly missed in the community that has so long known him. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church in Selma, Wednesday, April 7, at 1 o'clock, Wm Heger officiating, and buried in Passmore cemetery south of Selma.
