Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mrs. Minnie Nelson, Battle Creek, Mr. Carrico's aunt, asked police to make an investigation when she didn't see him about the home. Police found Mr. Carrico dead. Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church here. The body will lie in state from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Steffen Mortuary. Mr. Carrico was born May 7, 1894, at Independence, Grayson County, Virginia, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Carrico. His parents died when he was young and he was reared by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Carrico. He accompanied them to Madison County about 55 years ago. In 1942, he purchased the show store shop of James Owens, which he operated until his death. Mr. Carrico, who never married, is survived by his aunt, Mrs. Nelson, and three uncles, George w. Carrico, Glendale Calif.; James Carrico, Battle Creek, and Kemper Carrico, Fries Va. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mrs. Bird Bolt. L. Hart, Tilden. Burial was in Union Cemetery here. Pallbearers were Herbert Cox, Madison; Hayes Miller, G. A. Koester, Ed Sulc, L. V. Dufphey and Albert Stuckwisch, all of Battle Creek. Mr. Carrico, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Carrico, was born May 7, 1894, at Independence, Grayson County, Virginia. He was reared by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Carrico, after the death of his parents. About 56 years ago he came to Madison County with his grandparents. He purchased a shoe shop in 1942, which he operated until his death. Mr. Carrico, who never married, is survived by his aunt, Mrs. Minnie Nelson, Battle Creek, and three uncles, George W. Carrico of Glendale, Calif.; James Carrico of Battle Creek, and Kemper Carrico of Fries, Va. He was preceded in death by his sister, Bird Bolt. His aunt, Mrs. Minnie Nelson, asked the town marshall to investigate after she had gone to his home and found the house locked and could not rouse Mr. Carrico. Death was attributed to a heart attack from which he evidently succumbed several hours before being found. Mr. Carrico was a Battle Creek businessman, having a shoe repairing shop which he purchased from James Owens in 1942. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. I. Lester Hart of Tilden officiating. Nina Herndon and Ellen Groninger furnished musical selections and Mrs. Aage Peterson was their accompianist. Interment was in the Union Cemetery and pallbearers were Herbert Cox, Madison, Hayes Miller, G. A. Koester, Albert Stuckwisch, L. V. Dufphey and Ed Sulc, all of Battle Creek.
