Stephen H. Greenup was born in Barren County, Kentucky, on May 22, 1821, to John and Elizabeth (Harlan) Greenup. He married Elizabeth "Betsy" Hoyt on October 8, 1840 in Fulton County, Illinois. She was the daughter of Elijah and Elizabeth (Scofield) Hoyt.
Stephen was a minister of the Methodist Episcopal Church and served in that capacity in the state of Iowa for 25 years. They then move to Morrison County, Minnesota, where he continued in his profession.
Stephen and Elizabeth were the parents of eleven children: Elizabeth, Hester, Julia, Edwin, Jason, Wilber, Lucy, Allen, Albert, Frank, and Edmond.

Fought and died in the Civil War July 17, 1864. 3. Jason Lee Greenup born May 1847; died July 29, 1907 in Motley, Morrison, MN. He was married to Malinda Ball. 4. Albert Edgar Greenup born March 3, 1858 in Iowa; died January 3, 1917 in Denver, Rock, Minnesota. |
