Steve was born February 22, 1922, on the farm south of Darr, Nebraska to Michael J. and Elizabeth (Kjar) Lauby. Steve attended and graduated from high school in Hayes, Kansas. Lauby, 89, of Lexington, Nebraska, died Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Park Avenue Estates in Lexington, Nebraska. Steve was born February 22, 1922, on the farm south of Darr, Nebraska to Michael J. and Elizabeth (Kjar) Lauby. Steve attended and graduated from high school in Hayes, Kansas. Steve was then drafted in the United States Navy in the South Pacific Theater in 1944 and served until the end of World War II. He was Honorably Discharged from the Navy in 1946. In 1944, Steve was joined in Holy Matrimony to Margaret A. Andersen on June 12, at the St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lexington, Nebraska. To this union, he was blessed with 7 sons and 4 daughters. After the death of his beloved Margaret, Steve found love again and married Elizabeth "Betty" O'Brien in Lexington, Nebraska, on January 27, 1996. Survivors are: children, Terry and wife Linda Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska; Brian and wife Beverly Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska; Mary and husband Tom Heilman of Saginaw, Michigan; Jane and husband Charles Mattingly of Columbia, Missouri; Anthony and wife Rita Lauby of Ft. Collins, Colorado; Edward and wife Deb Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska; Anders and wife Rhonda Lauby of Tyler, Texas; Jason and wife Renee Lauby of Cozad, Nebraska; Daughter-In-Law Dian Lauby of Lexington Nebraska; Son-In-Law Larry Schwindt of Ft. Collins, Colorado; One brother Chris Lauby of Lexington, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Steve was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Margaret in 1994, second wife Betty (O'Brien) in 1998; infant daughter Clara Marie; daughter Anne; son Jamie; and son-in-law Patrick O'Brien. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery at Lexington.
