Mr. Collins was born Oct. 10, 1950, in Mount Airy and lived in the Francisco community in Stokes County until his declining health made it necessary to move to an assisted living facility. Read More	FRANCISCO, NC ~ Mr. Stephen Wesley "Steve" Collins, 55, entered the Church Triumphant on Thursday morning, Aug. 24, 2006, at Wesley Long Hospital Intensive Care Unit. Mr. Collins was born Oct. 10, 1950, in Mount Airy and lived in the Francisco community in Stokes County until his declining health made it necessary to move to an assisted living facility. He was the son of Bion Wesley and Joyce Jacquelyn Frye Collins who preceded him in death. He was a graduate of North Stokes High School and Forsyth Technical Institute and worked with Salem Electric Co. before an accident disabled him. He was a member and elder at Francisco Presbyterian Church and was nurtured after his move by Bethel and Siler City Presbyterian Church families. He was a Boy Scout, played football at North Stokes and was an avid outdoorsman enjoying nothing better than working all day and hunting into the early morning hours. He was active in the beginnings of the Francisco Volunteer Fire Department and supported the youth activities in the community as he loved and nurtured all children. Mr. Collins is survived by his children, Brad and Stephanie Collins, of Westfield, and their mother, Sandra; his sister, Sue Flippin, and her husband, Jimmie, of McLeansville; three nephews and their families: Jeff and Jennifer Flippin and their children of Browns Summit, Stephen and Lynda Flippin and their children of Arlington, Va., and William and Nicole Flippin of Palm City, Fla. The family visitation and funeral service will be at Francisco Presbyterian Church, 7257 N.C. 89 Highway West in Westfield. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 this evening, Aug. 26. The family may be reached at other times at the home of Stephanie and Bradley Collins at 1130 Canterbury Farm Road, Westfield. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27, at the church. Floral tributes are welcomed, or memorials may be made to Francisco Presbyterian Church at the above address. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to the staff in the Intensive Care Unit at Wesley Long who provided excellent and compassionate care for Mr. Collins and his family members during recent days and to the colleagues in the ministry who visited with prayers and reminders that Steve is in pain no more and that his heavenly home has been prepared for him and all who love our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Since Mr. Collins was a former resident of the Francisco community in Westfield, the family is being assisted by Cox-Needham Funeral Service in Pilot Mountain.
