Cremation has taken place. He was born at Lewistown. He was raised in Fergus County and graduated from Fergus County High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He served with the Army Corps of Engineers in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. After his discharge he operated the Ware Elevator near Danvers. He later worked as a rural mail carrier out of Danvers. He also worked as a crop duster. He retired from the Postal Service in 1975. He was an ardent sportsman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge In Lewistown, the Eagles, the Al Bedoo Shrine Temple in Billings, St. James Episcopal Church and the Lewistown American Legion. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Morris (Doris) Arnold, Deer Lodge; Mrs. Nat (Mary) Boyd, Kalispell, and Mrs. William (Norma) Capper, Dearborn, Mich. He never married. The O'Connor Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. -------------------------- Sterling was perhaps named after his uncle, Sterling Price Colman, the husband of Elizabeth Shaw Colman, his father's older sister.
