Description	:	Steve Kohn, pioneer of Prairie Township, passed away at his home southwest of Litchville, Monday, November 10. Death was due to heart and stomach trouble, incident to old age. He was also ill last November and for a time life was hanging in the balance, but he recovered and remained fairly well until about two months ago, when he was again taken sick and which ended in his demise. Read More	Steve Kohn, pioneer of Prairie Township, passed away at his home southwest of Litchville, Monday, November 10. Death was due to heart and stomach trouble, incident to old age. He was also ill last November and for a time life was hanging in the balance, but he recovered and remained fairly well until about two months ago, when he was again taken sick and which ended in his demise. Steve Kohn was born at Theresa, Wisconsin, on April 16, 1849, where he remained until he was sixteen years old. At that time, he came to Winona, Minnesota, where he worked for about three years. In 1878, he came to what was then Dakota Territory, locating at Fargo, and worked on one of the big Cass County farms. Shortly after coming to the state he bought a piece of land near Warren, Cass County, which, we understand remained in his possession to the end. On January 1, 1881, he was united in marriage to Miss Hulda Alber, and eight children were born to this union, one of whom, Olga, died in 1918. The living children are: William, Paul, Otto, Emil, Mrs. Ed. (Selma) Sporl, Mrs. Emil (Cora) Regner, and Mrs. Frank (Della) Czemba. The aged widow, nine grandchildren, two sisters, a step-sister and a step-brother, John Herring also survive. Deceased came to LaMoure county in 1882, one year after his marriage, homesteading the NW ¼ of section 28, Prairie township, which has been his home ever since. Here he worked and suffered the hardships of pioneer life, and helped to make the raw prairies blossom forth into fields of waving grain. He attended to his civic duties by serving as an officer of township and school district, and altogether was a good American citizen. Thus ends the life’s journey of another of our pioneer builders—a good man, a loyal citizen and a kind husband and father.
