Peters, 54, Johnson City, went home to be with his Lord Sunday May 17, 2015 in the Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol following an extended illness. He was born, January 15, 1961 in Homestead, Florida to Mary Alice Williams Peters and the late Earnest S. Peters. He lived most of his life in Carter County. He was a 1979 graduate of Elizabethton High School. He was retired due to disability as a pipe fitter. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Peters. Steve was a member of Big Springs Baptist Church. He was an outdoorsman, who loved hunting, fishing and hiking. but most of all he loved the Lord and spending time with his family. Survivors other than his mother include his wife of 24 years: Debbie Shell Peters. Two Children: Hunter and Natasha Peters, both of the home. A Sister: Melanie Peters, Johnson City. Several Nieces & Nephews. uncles & aunts including a special Aunt: Nina Ellis, Elizabethton. A special cousin: Brian Ellis and wife Sherry of Unicoi Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Memorial Funeral Chapel with Pastor Mark Fowler officiating. Graveside Service and Interment will be at 12 Noon Thursday in the Caldwell Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Brian Ellis, Boone Ellis, Adam Buck, Chris Peters, Cody Vanover and Bradley Townsend. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Hunter Peters, Dr. Robert Shubert, Bruce Winters, Mike Whitehead, Wayne Little, John Papantoniou, and John Paul Mathes. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 11:20 a.m. Thursday to go to the cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at our web site www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
