It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, uncle and nephew on June 24, 2007. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of George and Lynne Walker. A graduate of King's Tech, Steven was a journeyman carpenter who enjoyed working in his wood shop; however, he realized he was more at home working in the woods, cutting logs and pulpwood. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, uncle and nephew on June 24, 2007. Born in Bridgewater, he was the son of George and Lynne Walker. A graduate of King's Tech, Steven was a journeyman carpenter who enjoyed working in his wood shop; however, he realized he was more at home working in the woods, cutting logs and pulpwood. He often volunteered his carpentry skills and equipment to various community events. He enjoyed satellite T.V. and loved his little cousins, Natalie and Jillian. Besides his father, Steven is survived by sisters, Amanda (Otto) Van Barneveld, Chester; Melony (Michael) Melanson, Halifax, and Sonya Walker (Robert Burke), Bridgewater; niece, Holly Van Barneveld; special aunt and uncles, Marjorie and John Bezeau, New Ross; Russell Walker, Dartmouth; special cousins, Danielle Baker, New Ross, and Ryan Bezeau, Chester, and their families; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Steven was predeceased by his mother, Lynne; paternal grandparents, John and Zella Walker, and maternal grandparents, Ira and Beulah Rafuse. There will be no visitation and as per Steven's request cremation will take place. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 28, in St. Patrick's Church, New Ross with Father Chinedu Chukwu officiating. Burial to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Mill Road. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Muscular Dystrophy Association of Canada would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, Chester. The family would like to extend their thanks to the South Shore and Valley Search and Rescue teams.
