He was preceded in death by his parents and 10 brothers and sisters. Steve was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Marion, the son of George and Minnie (Grishaber) Oakley. On Sept. 9, 1950, he was united in marriage to Virginia Eden in Iowa City. Steve was a sales engineer and worked at Globe Machinery and Newell Electric. He was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. Steve enjoyed golfing and fishing. He was a lifelong and dedicated Iowa Hawkeye and Chicago Cubs fan. He was a member and former commander of the American Legion in Marion.
