His funeral service will be held June 14, 2013 at Christ The King Catholic Church in Gering. Inurnment will be held at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Steve was born on December 8, 1954 in Alliance, NE to Dale and Lorene(Rohrbouck)Newton. He later lived in Crete, NE for several years where he owned and operated a glass shop and also worked in Ord, NE. After moving to Scottsbluff, he went to work for the UPRR where he worked for over 20 years as an engineer driving trains. Steve loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and especially racing his Legends car at Highway 92 Raceway. He also raced in Texas, Colorado and Wyoming. He loved spending time with family; especially spoiling his nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephew. Steve took great pleasure being involved and donating quilts and gifts to the annual Union Christmas Party to benefit children. He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend and will be missed by all who knew him.He is survived by his mother Lorene Newton of Gering; brothers Robert(Nancy) Newton of Gering and Mike(Andrea)Newton of Chesapeake, Virginia; nieces and nephews Robbie, Jennifer, Amy, Heather, Chris, Jeff and Greg; 4 great nieces and one great nephew; and numerous other relatives, cousins and extended work and play family and friends.His father Dale Newton and brother Rick"Ernie"Newton preceded him in death.
