He was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Jefferson, Ohio, the son of Charles S. and Hazel (Monroe) Case. Read More	JEFFERSON — Stewart M. Case, age 85, of W. Satin St., Jefferson, died Friday morning, Jan. 20, 2012, at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation following a short illness. He was born Sept. 16, 1926, in Jefferson, Ohio, the son of Charles S. and Hazel (Monroe) Case. A 1944 Jefferson High School graduate, he joined the Navy and served a two-year tour in the Pacific Theater aboard LST 774 during World War II. He then studied to become a third-generation pharmacist, graduating from The Ohio State University in 1950 with a Pharmacy degree and took on the family business of owning and operating Case's Drugstore in Jefferson until its closure in 1984. He then worked as a pharmacist at Rite Aid. A life-long Jefferson resident, he gave back to the community in many ways. He joined the Jefferson Rotary Club in 1950 and served at one time or another on almost all committees and leadership positions, such as chairing the golf outing for many years, serving as president in 1963 and being the local chairman of Polio Vaccination Sunday. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Eastern Star and was an Eagle Scout. Other service activities included being a volunteer fireman in the Wade Hose Company, the chairman of the March of Dimes, one of the originators of the Jefferson United Way, and served 16 years on the Jefferson Village Council. More recently, he volunteered at the Jefferson Community Recreation Center and mowed the lawns of the Jefferson Historical Society and the First Congregational United Church of Christ, of which he was a life-long member. He was also voted Man of the Year in 1967 and was nominated as Senior Citizen of the Year for Ashtabula County in 2011. An avid Buckeyes fan, he held season tickets to football games and even went to the Rose Bowl in 1997 to cheer his favorite team to victory. He and his wife also traveled extensively, including trips to Alaska and Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia. His survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley M. (Tisch), whom he married on Nov. 4, 1951 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Jefferson; four children, Sharon M. Taylor of Ashtabula, Susan M. (Andy) Fabrizi of Columbia Station, Sandra M. Rovnak of North Canton and Charles S. Case II of Ashtabula; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Milam, Megan Miller and Adam, Alicia and Anthony Fabrizi, Jennifer Kintz and Jillian Calabretta; three great-grandchildren, Nathan, Lucas and Olivia with a fourth due in August; and a sister, Joan (Robert) Kincer of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet Brenneman; and a son-in-law, Edward Taylor. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 23rd, at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 41 E. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Rev. Jim Brehler officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., TODAY, Jan. 22nd, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with Tuscan Lodge #342 F. & A. M. offering Masonic Services at 7:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational United Church of Christ at the above address or the Jefferson Rotary Club, P.O.
