Glasco Sun, Dec. 20, 1945, page 1: Struve Eugene Hering, son of Struve and Jean Hering, was born November 17, 1943, at Oklahoma City, Okla., and departed this life at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., on December 11, 1945, at the age of two years, three weeks and three days. When he was five weeks old his parents brought him to Glasco to visit and he was baptized in St. Paul's Lutheran church on Christmas Day, Dec. 25, 1943. Most of little Struve's life was spent with his parents at different Army Air Fields while his father was serving in the U.S. Army Air Forces, with the exception of the last six months, which he lived with his mother at the home of his grandparents at Glasco. He was an extensive traveler due to these circumstances, having been in fifteen states at the time of his passing. His sweet disposition and happy smile in the midst of his physical handicaps endeared him to all who knew him. For the past year he has been under the best possible care and treatment known to medical science, but the skill of the best men and women in this field could not help him. God has now called him to his heavenly home. He is survived by his parents, Struve and Jean; his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Hering, Lance Creek, Wyo.; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. F.R. McCollough of Glasco; his paternal great grandfather, John Stark, Osmond, Neb.; and numerous other relatives, friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted from St. Paul's Lutheran church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15, with the Rev. O.K. Oelke in charge. Interment was in the Glasco cemetery.
