"Bogie" Bogenreif was born March 18, 1928, in Altamont, South Dakota to Clarence and Mildred Bogenreif, but spent most of his youth and early adulthood in Watertown, South Dakota. Read More	Stuart C. "Bogie" Bogenreif was born March 18, 1928, in Altamont, South Dakota to Clarence and Mildred Bogenreif, but spent most of his youth and early adulthood in Watertown, South Dakota. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii for part of World War II as a medic. He was very proud of his military service and having served his country. He married Marlyn, "Marnie" on February 6, 1948, and the two of them shortly thereafter moved west to the wilds of Montana, where they both worked and started their family, much to the chagrin of their families. Bogie had over a 30 year career with International Harvester Co. (IHC) working in the truck sales division. During his career, he and his family moved to different locations including: Great Falls, MT; Havre, MT; Billings, MT; Sheridan, WY, and Colorado Springs, CO. He retired from IHC during the fall of 1977 and moved to Grand Junction, where he worked for Hanson Equipment Co. and later with Mervin's. Marnie came to the Grand Valley in the spring of 1978, and it soon became their favorite and permanent home. They both made many good friends along the way and some would be lifelong. Bogie was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will remain a role model for future generations. He was a real people person and never met a stranger. He could talk with anyone and make that individual feel comfortable. He was optimistic and upbeat and could light up a room with is smile. He was an avid crossword puzzle solver and reader, who looked forward to opening day for the Colorado Rockies and Denver Broncos. Bogie died in the early morning of April 20th from complications of leukemia, with Marnie by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Daryle, and son, Steven. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marnie; daughter, Katherine (Charles) Rinker, of Bozeman, MT; son, Charles (Nora), of Albuquerque, NM; son, Michael (Julie), of Tallahassee, FL; brother, Clayton (Judy), of Volga, SD; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service and reception will be held at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, beginning at 12:30 p.m., with interment at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery with Military Honors in Grand Junction at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or the charity of one's choice.
