Description	:	Susa's father, Stratford Saunders was born Oct. 17, 1842 in New Kent County, Virginia. When but a little boy four years old he came to Nodaway County with his parents and lived in it, with the exception of a few years in Andrew County, the remainder of his life. August 10, 1885, he married Arminta Lawson, daughter of James and Julia Lawson of Graham, MO. To them were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy. Read More	Susa's father, Stratford Saunders was born Oct. 17, 1842 in New Kent County, Virginia. When but a little boy four years old he came to Nodaway County with his parents and lived in it, with the exception of a few years in Andrew County, the remainder of his life. August 10, 1885, he married Arminta Lawson, daughter of James and Julia Lawson of Graham, MO. To them were born ten children, two of whom died in infancy. His active years were given to farming near Skidmore, and when he retired he moved to Skidmore and lived there the 33 years left of his life. Mr. Saunders spent four years as a soldier of the Civil War. His service was entirely given within the state of Missouri, where his regiment was assigned to its place during the entire period of war. Startford Saunders and his wife were charter members of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Skidmore and he served as class leader. Mr. Saunders passed away November 24, 1927, Arminta was born born June 15, 1849 and passed away August 21, 1931. Susa Peter was the daughter of Stratford and Araminta Lawson Saunders. She was a Skidmore girl, having lived in the Skidmore area all her life. On July 2, 1923 she married Eldridge "Ell" Peter. They were the parents of two sons, Kenneth Saunders and Robert Forrest.
