SCHWALLER DIED THURSDAY MRS. V. C. Schwaller passed away at her home in Templeton Thursday, May 2, fully fortified with the sacraments of the Catholic church. She has been ill for about a week with rheumatism, which affected her heart. Susan Halter was born June 14, 1858, near Guttenberg, Ia. When a small child she moved with her parents to Grant, Wis. In the early winter of 1868 she came to Carroll county to make her home with a sister, and on January 28, 1879, she was united in marriage to V. C. Schwaller. To this union eleven children were born. Mrs. Schwaller leaves to mourn her death, besides her husband, the following children: Mrs. Rose Cavanaugh, Des Moines; Frank Schwaller, Dedham; Mrs. Gertrude Heinrichs, Long Beach, Calif.; Victor J. Schwaller, Des Moines; Mrs. Susan Wrigley; Mrs. Minnie Lewis, Lanesboro; George J. Schwaller, a soldier station at Fort Des Moines; Mrs. Nola Kuhl, Manning, and J. J. Schwaller. Two daughters have preceded their mother in death, Elizabeth, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Anna Murphy. Mrs. Schwaller was a good Christian woman and a devoted mother. Friendly and hospitable, she had countless friends. Funeral services were held at Sacred Heart church in Templeton Saturday morning. The pallbearers were the four sons and two sons-in-law, F. J. Schwaller, J. J. Schwaller, V. J. Schwaller, George Schwaller, John Lewis and Harry Wrigley. The honorary pallbearers were Rupert Kasparbauer, L. G. Schreck, John Berger, F. G. Schreck, William Stevens and William Schoeppner. Attending the funeral from out-of-town were: J. V. Halter, Chicago; Anna Dorr, Leeds, Ia.; Adam Steffes, Joe Goetzinger, Roselle; Mrs. Adam Braband, Mrs. Paul Stoffel, Carroll; Morris Dorn and family, Coon Rapids; Antoinete Cole, Omaha; Mrs. Anna Schwaller and son, Sylvester, Roselle; Mrs. Emil Kuhl, Mrs. Bob Kuhl, Dan Murphy, Mrs. Frank Vollmer, Manning; E. Schwaller Observed Golden Wedding Anniversary Monday. Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Schwaller of Templeton observed their 50thy wedding anniversary Monday, January 28, 1929, at their home. The eventful day was enjoyed by them and their children, who came with baskets laden with good things to eat, to celebrate the occasion. Victor C. Schwaller and Miss Susan Halter were married at Roselle, Ia., January 28, 1879. In 1884 they moved to Templeton, Ia., which has since been their home. Mr. Schwaller has long been recognized as one of the substantial and outstanding men of his vicinity. By occupation he is an auctioneer and has been very successful in this line of work. Of a large physique and commanding personality, he chose for his life work an occupation for which he was especially suited. Eleven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Schswaller and of these nine are living: Mrs. Rosa Cavanaugh, Des Moines; Frank Schwaller, Dedham; John Schwaller, Templeton; Mrs. Gertrude Hinrichs, California; Mrs. Susan Wrighly, Templeton; Mrs. Minnie Lewis, Lanesboro; Mrs. Nola Kuhl, Manning; Victor and George Schwaller, Des Moines. Mrs. and Mrs. Schwaller were presented with a shower of $60 in gold by their children. Many friends join in congratulations and good wishes for many more years of health and happiness.
