The Rev. Joseph Cordes will read the requiem mass and burial will be in St. Peter and Paul cemetery. Mrs. Daiker was taken to Rochester a week ago today for an operation, after an illness of several months. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Raymond Winker, and her sister-in-law, Mrs. John Goecke. Her son, P. G. Daiker and Dr. S. D. Martin motored to Rochester Friday evening and were present for the operation. Fred Hendrickson and Ray Winker left here Sunday. They were all with her when she passed away Monday morning. The body was brought to Carroll this morning by the Gregory ambulance. It was to be taken to the Daiker home north of town this afternoon. Mrs. Susan Daiker was born September 22, 1873, in Clinton county, the daughter of Catherine and Nicholas Kries. When a small child, she accompanied her parents to Carroll county, the family locating near Mt. Carmel. Shortly after coming here, her mother died and she was cared for by her grandmother until her father's second marriage a few years later. Following her marriage in Carroll to George Daiker, the couple moved to a farm near Early, where they lived for several years. Later they located on a farm north of Carroll. Several years later they moved to Carroll. Mr. Daiker was employed as pump house manager and also was employed in the light plant. In 1909 they moved to the county farm. Mr. Daiker passed away in 1914. In 1915, Mrs. Daiker became the overseer, she had been in charge since that time. Mr. and Mrs. Daiker were the parents of two children, P. G. Daiker, who with his wife, assisted Mrs. Daiker at the farm, and a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Winker (Catherine) of Lidderdale. Mrs. Daiker also reared the son of her half sister, Otto Burrow of Lidderdale, after his mother, Mrs. Otto Burrow, passed away. Surviving Mrs. Daiker in addition to her two children are: a sister, Mrs. Will Witt (Mary) of Pinewood, Minn.; two half sisters, Mrs. Charles Daniels of Carroll and Mrs. Mary Lockman of Kent, Minn.; several half brothers, John Kries, Ben and Fred Rieber, all of Kent, an uncle, John Kries of Mt. Carmel and five grandchildren.
