Description	:	Susan LaVona Murray, 90, a resident of Winslow House Care Center, formerly of Central City, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2000, in the care center following a brief illness. Services: 3 p.m. Monday, Murdoch Funeral Home, Marion, by the Rev. Slyvia Kennedy. Burial: Blodgett Cemetery, Central City. Friends may call from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; two brothers, Jay and Ernest; and two sisters, Mildred Baily and Beryl Phelps. Born the daughter of Eugene and Mary Hall Baily on April 8, 1909, in rural Central City, she was united in marriage to Harold H. Murray on June 29, 1935, in Center Point. He died on Oct. 5, 1993. LaVona started teaching in 1926, in a one-room school house and continued teaching and substituting over the next 30 years at various schools in the area. She attended Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church for many years and belonged to United Methodist Women. A memorial fund has been established.
