Description	:	Susan Marsh was born 2 August 1814 in Cumberland County, N.C. in a rural community called Gray's Creek. Her parents were James Marsh, Jr. and Eleanor (Nelly Carver. James was a Blacksmith and Nelly was the daughter of William and Mary Carver. William Carver was a Revolutionary War Patriot who has been Memorialized at Liberty Point, Fayetteville for his service. Susan's father , James Marsh, Jr. (Blacksmith), died after the 23 September 1824 writing of his Last Will and Testament. From her father, Susan inherited: "Susan, Betsey Jane Marsh and Arena Marsh an equal share of the said Negro girls... Her widowed mother married her brother-in-law, Evan Marsh 1 September 1825 in Cumberland County, NC. Evan Marsh, a Planter, lived in the Gray's Creek Community until after the 1830 death of his mother, Sarah Salter Marsh. After April 1832, Evan, Nelly , their children, along with the chilren Nelly had with James, Jr. relocated to Richland County, SC. Letters are located in the South Carolina State Archives between Evan Marsh of "Near Columbia" to Jonthan Evans of "Near Fayetteville". Susan married Daniel James McLean, Sr. 18 April 1832. He was the son of Lauchlan and Flora Lamon McLean of Cumberland County, NC. The Children of Daniel and Susan McLean: Mary Clara, Sophie Jane, Elizabeth and Daniel James McLean, Jr.
