Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 9 Oct 1873 p2: "MARRIED---In this town [Dover], by Rev. H. Graves, Oct. 4th, Mr. Frank A. Merrill and Miss Susie M. Bell, both of this town." Published in the Piscataquis (ME) Observer 8 Apr 1875 p3: "DIED---In this town [Dover], March 26, 1875, Susie M., wife of Frank A. Merrill, and only daughter of Joel and Sarah Bell, aged 20 years, 2 months and 13 days. It is not always best to eulogize the dead, but the case above mentioned deserves special notice. Susie was one of those rare characters which win the respect and affection of others without making any effort. Her quiet unobtrusive ways won her many fast friends even when a child, at home, at school, among her associates she was a universal favorite, beloved, because she avoided any act or word which would give another pain. Less than a year and a half since, she was married to Mr. Frank A. Merrill, but very soon it became evident that their pleasant union must be short. The thought of death was very hard to bear at first, but toward the last she became more resigned, and finally expressed her readiness and willingness to depart. Her funeral on Sabbath 28th, was attended by a very large company of relatives, neighbors and schoolmates,---all testifying by their deep and sincere grief that she lived beloved, and died lamented by all who knew her. May Divine grace sustain and comfort those who mourn."
