The same index indicates that Susan died at "Dallas, Hancock, Illinois." On this later index, township names were frequently omitted, leading to the dissemination of inaccurate information. The Quill, La Harpe, Illinois, page 5 Tuesday, December 24, 1918 "Susan Pearl, wife of Roy Alston, the C. B. & Q. agent at Colusa, died at her home, Dec. 7th, aged 25 years, her death being due to influenza and complications. The young husband also passed away Tuesday [Dec 10] at 8:45 a. m., of pneumonia, which followed an attack of influenza. They leave four small children." The brief death notice indicates that Roy was employed at Colusa, not that he died there.
