MARY’S FRIDAY--WAS MOTHER OF LARGE FAMILY Requiem Mass was sung at St. Mary’s Church in Alton Friday, for Mrs. Susan Streff Homan, 85, who died at her home in Alton last Tuesday, January 20. Born February 10, 1867, at Dubuque, Iowa. Mrs. Homan was married to Frank Homan on January 22, 1889. The couple moved to a farm south of Alton shortly after their marriage, and lived there for many years until Mr. Homan’s death September 27, 1914. Surviving are the couple’s eight children: John, Rose, George, Emma, Olive, Roman, Julius and Odilo; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John Arens, Lismore and a brother, Al Streff. Funeral services were held Friday morning, January 23rd in St. Mary’s Church, of which she was a faithful member for 64 years. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
