Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the Christian Reformed church in this city, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.R. Rozendal. Interment was made in Grace Hill Cemetery. Susan Versteeg was born at Orange City, Iowa, March 19, 1872, and died April 12, 1930, at the age of 58 years and 23 days. She grew to young womanhood at Orange City where she united with the Christian Reformed church. She was united in marriage with Wm. Krull in Chicago in 1889. The family moved to Hawarden in 1900 and her home has ever since been in this city. She was ever a hard working woman, toiling ceaselessly for the comfort and well being of her children. She is survived by five sons, Frank, Peter and Guy of Hawarden, Jake of Alcester, and John of Seattle, Wash., and one daughter, Mrs. Clarence Shriner of Chatsworth. Her death is also mourned by her step-mother, Mrs. G. Versteeg of Orange City, and by six brothers and two sisters, Mrs. Gerrit Kanis of Sheldon; Mrs. Nick Versteeg of Hancock, Minn.; Jake Versteeg of Edgerton, Minn.; Carl and Henry Versteeg of Sibley; Bert Versteeg of Hull; Al. and John Versteeg and Mrs. Ike Luymes of Orange City. Relatives and friends who were here to attend the funeral were Mrs. G. Versteeg, Mr. and Mrs. Ike Luymes, Mr. and Mrs. J. Versteeg, Mrs. J. Calbrack and Mr. and Mrs. A. Mouw, all of Orange City.
