On April 9, 1842, she was united in marriage to Peter Cackler in Knox county, Ill. To this union were born eight children, John, Charles, Perry, Nelson, Mary, Elizabeth, Lucinda and Laura. On April 9, 1842, she was united in marriage to Peter Cackler in Knox county, Ill. To this union were born eight children, John, Charles, Perry, Nelson, Mary, Elizabeth, Lucinda and Laura. John, Perry, Nelson and Mary, with their father, preceded her to the better land. Charles, of Hamilton, and Mrs. Elizabeth Jurgens, of Des Moines, were present at the funeral. Mrs. Lucinda Roberts, of Blackwell, Okla., and Mrs. Laura Robinson, of Silver City, Iowa were not able to be present. For several months "grandma" had been confined to her bed, being almost helpless. She was a great sufferer, but bore her affliction with Christian fortitude. In her early youth, she had identified herself with the Methodist church and began making preparations for eternity. On account of her advanced age and feeble health she was not able to attend public worship in recent years. The funeral sermon was preached at the home April 2, at 10 a.m., by the pastor of the Methodist church at Oakley, and interment was made near Norwood. Obituary courtesy of Charles M. Wright
