Susie Hinz, 91, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 27, 2009, at the Hampton Rehabilitation Center, Hampton, Iowa. Funeral services for Susie Hinz will be 1:00 pm, Tuesday, September 1st at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Iowa Falls, Iowa, with Reverend Karl Bollhagen officiating. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday evening at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls. Memorials may be made to the family c/o Lester Hinz, 1615 Sanford Drive, Iowa Falls, Iowa 50126. The Linn's Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel is handling the arrangements. Susie Anna Mae Johnson was born October 27, 1917, on the family farm about 3 and a half miles outside of Auburn, Iowa, in Sac County, Iowa, the daughter of John Henry, II, and Maggie (Tebben) Johnson. She was baptized on June 10, 1918, at Peace Lutheran Church, Wall Lake, Iowa. She attended country school and one year of church school before being confirmed by Reverend E. A. Fritz at Zion Lutheran Church, Ulmer, Iowa. On April 1, 1939, Susie was united in marriage to Lester A. Hinz of rural Arcadia, Iowa, at Saint Joseph, Missouri. They farmed for many years in the Carroll, Buena Vista, and Sac County areas. Susie taught Saturday School, Sunday School, and was active in Christian growth work at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Sac City, moving to Iowa Falls in 1971. God's word was very important to her and she carried that with her as a caregiver at Ellsworth Hospital in Iowa Falls for 20 years. Prior to moving to Iowa Falls, she had worked at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa, for roughly 10 years. Susie leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 70 years, Lester Hinz of Iowa Falls, three sons, one daughter, 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous relatives and friends, which due to privacy reasons, I will not list here. If anyone is in need of the full obituary, please contact me. As of 2014, it is no longer current nor very relevant to my family. New members have been added, and relationships have dissolved. She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Maggie Johnson; 4 brothers: Johnnie [Alma] Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Jurgen Johnson, Bud [Ann] Johnson; three sisters: Angie [Ernest] Frank, Johanna "Jo" [Jake] Tebben, Frieda [Bill] Reynolds; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Hinz. Suffered from dementia, Alzheimer's, and depression during her lifetime. She had heart and lung problems in addition to this. She had pneumonia many times during her life. She suffered a stroke early on the morning of August 22, 2009, and never recovered. Some of the biographical information included here is courtesy of members of my family. I am her granddaughter. I assisted my aunt in writing her obituary.
