She died at the Hull hospital at 6:30 a.m. after an illness of three weeks. Mrs. Vander Tuig was improving from her illness when her heart became overtaxed and brought death. She was 60 years old. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the home and at 2 o'clock from the Christian Reformed church. The Rev. J. R. Van Dyke, pastor of the church, and the Rev. G. Aalberts of the First Reformed church will be in charge. Burial will be made in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Mrs. Vander Tuig was born in The Netherlands April 9, 1881 and came to the United States in 1890 when she was a girl of 9. The family settled in Orange City. She was married in 1902 at Sioux Center to Nick Vander Tuig, and to this union were born one son, George, a radio operator in the U.S. Navy; and four daughters, Mrs. Alice Van Beek of Toronto, S.D., Mrs. Coba Wissink of Ireton, Mrs. Hattie Drost of Worthington, Minn., and Miss Gertrude Vander Tuig of Ireton. All her children survive her, together with her husband; a step-brother, Otto Bylsma of Lynden, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Henry De Weerd of Orange City. Her passing at this time was all the more sad because her son was unable to come home. Two telegrams were sent him, but he replied it was impossible to come.
