Description	:	The son of George and Mary Moyer Kriegel, Sylvester was born May 17, 1918, in Tama County, and received his education in rural schools near his home. He was married to Mabel R. Keller June 6, 1940, in Brooklyn. The couple made their home in the Brooklyn area where he was employed with several farmers. He also worked in the carpentry business with Walter Plum and later with Melvin Beck. He is survived by his children, Jerry Allen Kriegel of Marion, James Francis Kriegel and Richard Sylvester Kriegel, both of Tama, David Michael Kriegel of Brooklyn, and Linda Rose Jones of Startex, S.C.; three sisters, Margaret Lowe and Evalina Rutledge, both of Tama, and Leota Graff of San Jose, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Sylvester died Feb. 1, at the Mayflower Health Care Center in Grinnell, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on July 4, 1991; three brothers, George, William, and Gerald Kriegel; a sister, Josephene Sieck; and a daughter in infancy.
