Sylvester was born July 12, 1916, at Mylo, ND the son of Martin and Emma Neameyer Gores. He attended rural school in Mylo. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Devils Lake. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Minot State College and his Masters's degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. Gores, 79, of Devils Lake, ND died Friday, November 17, 1995, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN. Sylvester was born July 12, 1916, at Mylo, ND the son of Martin and Emma Neameyer Gores. He attended rural school in Mylo. He graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Devils Lake. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at Minot State College and his Masters's degree from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks. He received his Professional Guidance Certificate from the University of North Dakota. He also did graduate work at Pittsburg, KS, Flagstaff, AZ; Dillon, MT; and Vermillion, SD. He served with the U. S. Army, 4th Air Force, 328 Fighter Group for four years. He was united in marriage to Shirley Erickson on November 26, 1954 at Holy Rosary Church, Bisbee. He worked in the field of education for over forty years as a teacher, counselor and school administration. He worked in school systems at Minto consolidated, Wales, Perth, Omemee, Russell, Egeland, Hope, and Westhope, all in North Dakota. He had an appointment with the US Department of Interior, Bureau of Indian Affairs at New Town and Fort Totten, ND. He taught psychology at Little Hoop Community College for two years after he retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. Fort Totten in 1981. They moved to Devils Lake in October of 1974. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Devils Lake; son and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gregory J. and Amy Gores of Rochester, MN, Michael and Susan Gores of Bettendorf, IA, and Roger Gores of Grand Forks; five grandchildren; sister, Sister Dorothy Marie Gores of Omaha, NE.
