Description	:	Sylvester W. Michael was born in Delaware county, Iowa, Dec. 30, 1855. His early life was spent there and there it was he was married to Maggie Waugh in the fall of 1874. To them were born May, Sam and Lizzie. He moved to Kansas for a couple of years, but returned to Iowa. Later he went into the railroad contracting business and worked considerable in Dakota. Michael was born in Delaware county, Iowa, Dec. 30, 1855. His early life was spent there and there it was he was married to Maggie Waugh in the fall of 1874. To them were born May, Sam and Lizzie. He moved to Kansas for a couple of years, but returned to Iowa. Later he went into the railroad contracting business and worked considerable in Dakota. From there he moved to this county in 1887. A few years ago he tried California, but it was not to his liking, so he returned to this county again where he remained. He was married the second time to Anna M. Seaton, Jan. 26, 1885. To this union were born, Roy, Willie, John, Alfred, Blanche, Clarence and Hazel. This marrige was also in Delaware county, Iowa. About five years ago he felt the first symptoms of creeping paralysis. This continued to spread over his body, till he was sorely afflicted in the last months of his existence. Death came to his release June, 23, 1912. In early life he surrendered to the call of his Savior and was immersed into Him. He united with the U.B. church and all who knew him testify he tried to live true to his profession The testimony is he loved to call upon God in prayer. He not only looked to the future in making provision for his eternal welfare, but also made temporal provision for his wife by carrying a policy in the M. W. A. for her protection. The funeral was from the Christian chapel, Monday afternoon, conducted by D. J. Poynter. The Woodmen acted as pall bearers and accompanied the body from the house and at the grave did the Woodmen honors. The Royal Neighbors also attended the funeral in a body. The floral offerings were so profuse they had to be removed from the casket before it could be interred. (Albion Weekly News, Albion, Nebraska, Thursday, June 27, 1912)
