It is with great sorrow that the family of Sylvia Fayette Mailman announces her untimely death on August 17, 2016. Sylvia was an incredible woman in every aspect of her life. Whether she was working at home or on her job, she faced each task wholeheartedly. Meeting her for the first time or knowing her all your life, you instantly fell in love with her contagious smile and laugh. Her personality was huge and she had the ability to brighten anyone’s day with her words of encouragement and warm, social personality. She will be remembered for possessing a generous, loving and compassionate soul. If you were to describe her, you would say she was kind, caring, giving, thoughtful, supportive, generous, loyal and most of all a wonderful wife, daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Her greatest satisfaction was her family. She loved them all unconditionally. Loving the holidays, with Christmas being her favourite, she always remarked that having the family all together was the best part. She will be remembered for her fantastic cooking, ability to gather and entertain a crowd and the genuine love she gave to all. She would always lend a helping hand to anyone in need and will be truly missed by family, friends and anyone who met her. Sylvia worked at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater, in the cafeteria for 43 years. She loved her job and often spoke that her gratification was meeting and serving the people. She is survived by her husband, Donald Duncan Mailman of 56 years who she cared for and loved deeply; sons, Mervin (Tracy) Mailman; Anzel (Sherry) Mailman; Todd (Marilyn) Mailman; Paul (Megan) Mailman; daughters, Lucille (Erroll) Cross; Tena (Mark) McPherson; grandchildren, Tristan Robar, Kailen Russell, Brandon Mailman, Isaiah Mailman, Lucah Mailman, Mathew Wile, Shauna Wile, Maddix Mailman, Candice Killam (Scott), Aimee Cross (Greg), MaKenna McPherson (Connor); great- grandchildren, Jayden Chelli, Darius Robar and Owen Weagle; mother, Lucy Ellen Mailman; brothers, Richard (Yvonne) Mailman; Walter (Shirley) Mailman; Chester Mailman (Walena Polson); Tony (Valerie) Mailman; sisters, Mildred (Eric) Arenburg; Paulette (Foster) Monk; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and special mention, niece Allie Mailman and great nephew Leigh Roderick Rhodenizer. She was predeceased by father Ralph Ruin Mailman; grandson in infancy, Harold Cross; brother Harold Mailman; sisters Doris Whynot (Edward); Winnie Heim (Chester) and nephew Roderick Leigh Mailman; sister-in-law Freda Mailman. There will be no visitation at the funeral home by request. A public graveside service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, August 22 at the Lone Oak Cemetery, New Elm, with Pastor George Dagley officiating. No flowers by request. Donations can be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital or the Lone Oak Cemetery Committee Fund, New Elm. Arrangements entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home, Bridgewater.
