Description	:	Sylvia H. Sala, 83, of Madison, went to be with the Lord on Jan. 5, 2016, at Somerset Residential Care Center in Madison. She was born in Farmington on August 30, 1932, the daughter of Forrest and Isabel (Osborne) York. Sylvia graduated from Skowhegan High School, the class of 1950, and later she attended the school of nursing in Lewiston. She was a communicant of St. Sebastian Church in Madison. Sylvia worked at Maine Spinning in Skowhegan for several years. Later she owned and operated Pizza Place in Madison with her husband Joseph. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph Sala; a grandson, Jason Spaulding; and a sister, Florence Bacon. Sylvia is survived by her daughter Mary Sala of Madison, her sons P. Richard Spaulding and his wife Debbie of Bowdoinham, and Martin Sala of Madison, stepsons Joseph Sala and his wife Blair of Ellsworth, Peter Sala of Stratton, John Sala and his wife Shelly of Carrabassett, and stepdaughter Martha Sala of Vermont. She also leaves behind one sister, Mary Wyman of Canaan, two brothers, Forrest E. York of Cornville and David York of Madison, as well as five grandchildren, Tricia Spaulding, Jacob Whipple, Trent Whipple, Alex Currie and Bodie Currie; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery in the Spring. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison. (Central Maine Newspapers 1/7/2016)
