Description	:	Sylvia Kay Large was born to Joseph and Gloria Greene at Chase County Hospital Sept. 14, 1956. She grew up on the family farm 8.5 miles west of Imperial. She delighted in being a farm girl and loved the land, the animals and her family. She attended District 66 Grade School through first grade and then transferred to Imperial Elementary School and went on to Chase County High School graduating in 1975. Sylvia loved music. She delighted in being a farm girl and loved the land, the animals and her family. She attended District 66 Grade School through first grade and then transferred to Imperial Elementary School and went on to Chase County High School graduating in 1975. Sylvia loved music. She was a drummer and baton twirler in the Chase County High School band. Community activities included 4-H and Rainbow Girls. Sylvia received many hours for her work in these areas. Her desire to teach took her to Kearney State College where she received her bachelor's degree in elementary education. While she was there, she was a resident assistant. Following graduation, Sylvia taught kindergarten through fourth grade at District 66 for four years. While in high school and college, Sylvia had been good friends with Dale Large. This friendship ultimately led to their union in marriage on Oct. 1, 1983. They initially lived on a farm west of Wauneta. Later they moved to their present home 8.5 miles west of Imperial. Sylvia and Dale were excited to welcome three beautiful daughters into their lives; Alisha Ann, Kimberly Dawn and Samantha Jo. Sylvia joyfully embraced the responsibilities of family and farm life. Her teaching experience turned toward guiding her children. As a result of her 4-H projects and appreciation of art, Sylvia became an avid photographer. This activity evolved into major vocation as she captured snapshots of life and important memories for family, friends and the community. Sylvia also developed a part-time business with her sister, Annette, as an independent beauty consultant with Mary Kay Cosmetics. She enjoyed enriching the lives of women. Sylvia, 47, died Monday, Aug. 9, 2004, at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial. Survivors include her husband, Dale of Imperial; three daughters, Alisha, Kimberly and Samantha, all of Imperial; her parents, Joe and Gloria Greene of McCook; sister, Annette and husband, James Hazuka of Monument, Colo.; and her parents-in-law, Marvin and Arlene Large of Imperial. She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Alan Greene. Services were Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Imperial. Interment was in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Imperial. A memorial has been established. Liewer Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
