Description	:	Sylvia Mae (Elyea) Hoffman, 76, of Faulkton, SD, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Faulkton Healthcare Nursing Home in Faulkton. Sylvia Mae Elyea was born on February 18, 1943 in Hyde County to Arthur and Dorothy (Volz) Elyea. She grew up in Highmore, SD and Miller, SD and graduated from Miller High School. She worked washing dishes and doing... Read More	Sylvia Mae (Elyea) Hoffman, 76, of Faulkton, SD, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 5, 2019, at the Faulkton Healthcare Nursing Home in Faulkton. Sylvia Mae Elyea was born on February 18, 1943 in Hyde County to Arthur and Dorothy (Volz) Elyea. She grew up in Highmore, SD and Miller, SD and graduated from Miller High School. She married Darrell Hoffman on November 14, 1965 at Miller. They had one daughter, Kathleen Ann Hoffman. Sylvia was a stay at home mom until her daughter was out of school. She worked washing dishes and doing custodial work at Terry’s Bar in Redfield, SD. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Redfield. She loved to sit and watch comedy and love stories on TV or listen to country and western and Christian songs. Sylvia is survived by her daughter, Kathleen of Redfield; one sister, Sharon Clayton of Medina, NY; brother-in-law, Dwight Owens of Lockport, NY; sister-in-law, Pat Christopherson of Albert Lea, MN; sister-in-law, Gladys Allerdings of Huron, SD; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Hershell and Norma Hoffman of Belle Fourche, SD; brother-in-law, Randy Sween of Estelline, SD; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two family cats, Sissy and Beauty; all the wonderful employees at the Faulkton Nursing Home; and two very special friends, Terri Mehlhoff and Shirley Vearrier. Those preceding her in death are her husband Darrell; her parents, Arthur and Dorothy Elyea; stepfathers, Marvin Carsper and Don Murphy; sisters, Lois Dal Porto and Joyce Owens; brothers, Duane and Robert; brothers-in-law: Raymond Clayton, Jerry Dal Porto, and Marvin Allerdings as well as one niece, Christy Elyea. Funeral: July 10, 2019, at the United Methodist Church in Redfield, SD. Officiating: Reverend Marty Toepke-Floyd. Burial: Prairie View Cemetery south of Orient, SD. Arrangements: Hyke Funeral Home - Redfield, SD.
