Description	:	Sylvia M. Ryken, age 90, of Yankton, South Dakota, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton and went home to be with her Lord and Savior. Funeral services are 11:00 AM, on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with Reverend David Wildermuth officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton. Visitation is from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, on Sunday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer, video tribute and time of sharing at 6:30 PM. Visitation continues one hour... Sylvia was born November 8, 1921, in Yankton, South Dakota to Hiram E. and Gertie (Kendall) Dunham. She grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School. She worked for J.J. Newberry and J.C. Penney. Sylvia married Donnelly (Don) Ryken Feb. 23, 1944, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Yankton. They were lifetime farmers and cattle feeders. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a life member of Ernest Bowyer Post No. 791 Ladies Auxiliary. Sylvia was a member of an area woman's club and enjoyed helping people and the friends she made. She was an avid sewer, reader, and cross word puzzle enthusiast. She enjoyed travelling and being with her loving family and friends. Survivors include three sons: Russell (Bobbie Jo) Ryken of Sioux City, IA, Douglas Ryken of Yankton and Steven (Beverly) Ryken of Tabor, SD; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; six brothers: Richard, Jason, Raymond, Donald, Leo, and Lester Dunham; and three sisters: Ethyl Huber, Beulah Hespe, and Evelyn Schmelzel.
