She died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at Stanton Health Care Center. ——— Sylvia Magdalene (Reikofski) Nelson, daughter of Rudolph Emil and Julia Amanda (Ostlund) Reikofski, was born May 25, 1920, at Tilden. Sylvia attended high school in Tilden and on Sept. 4, 1937, was married to John Robert "Bob" Nelson by the Wheeler County judge. Sylvia was an Army wife from 1937 until 1939, then worked in California while Bob served shipboard in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. She began working as a dental assistant during her time in California and continued in the profession until 1980, when Bob retired. After the couple moved to Hawaii, Sylvia continued to work in the dentistry profession. While living in Hawaii, Sylvia and Bob were members of the Christ Lutheran Church in Hilo for 19 years and were active in Lava Klinkers and the Rainbeaus and Belles square dancing clubs. Due to Bob's health, they moved to Tempe, Ariz., in January of 2001, where Bob died in May of the same year. Sylvia returned to her home state of Nebraska, and moved into The Meadows in Norfolk in September of 2001, where she loved to play pitch with her friends there. Sylvia was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilden. She made her transition on Feb. 26, 2013, at Stanton Health Center in Stanton, attaining the age of 92. Sylvia's survivors (on the Reikofski side) include two nephews and a niece, David (Katie) Reikofski, Myrna (Terry) Barnard and Tim (Val) Reikofski, all in Arizona, as well as several grandnieces and nephews and two great-grandnieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudy and Julie Reikofski; her husband, John Robert "Bob" Nelson; three brothers, Ronald Reikofski, Ervin Reikofski and a brother in infancy; and one nephew, Daniel Reikofski.
