Fred was born on August 22, 1918, on the family farm near Elba, Nebraska the son of Vince and Anna (Wolinski) Wozniak. Fred was united in marriage to Margaret M. Kezeor on May 4, 1948, at Farwell, Nebraska. Fred attended District No. 8 Howard County, Nebraska rural school. Upon completing his education he farmed with his family and later moved to Grand Island, Nebraska where he worked for Construction Material Company. Fred was a World War II Army veteran having served from July 1941 to Oct. 1945. He was stationed for two years in Panama and then to Europe, where he served in Scotland, England, France and Belgium. Upon his discharge he returned to St. Paul, Nebraska and began working for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads. After he and Marge were married they first lived in St. Paul, Nebraska later moving to a farm near Boelus, Nebraska. They later returned to St. Paul, Nebraska where he continued to work for the Department of Roads until his retirement in 1984. He was very dedicated to his job with the State. Fred was a member of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, both of St. Paul, Nebraska. Fred enjoyed golfing, playing cards, gardening and taking care of farm animals. Fred was preceded in death by: parents; step-father, George Waltman; half-sisters, Luella Jensen and Josephine Gorecki; half-brothers, Clarence Waltman and Paul Waltman; step-sisters, Mayme Pabian and Adelaide Jensen and grandson, Johann Wozniak. Services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Paul, Nebraska. The Rev. Ray Kosmicki was the officiator. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, St. Paul, Nebraska with graveside military honors by Carl Mogensen American Legion Post 119, St. Paul, Nebraska.
