Description	:	May (Darr) St John was born on May 18, 1860 near Taylorville, Fayette County, Iowa which was near the present town of Arlington. Her parents were George B. Darr and Maria Jean Wade (Guin) Darr. Her mother was born on December 13, 1822 in Wayne County, Ohio, near Wooster and died on January 18, 1866. She died in childbirth at the age of forty-three. Read More	May (Darr) St John was born on May 18, 1860 near Taylorville, Fayette County, Iowa which was near the present town of Arlington. Her parents were George B. Darr and Maria Jean Wade (Guin) Darr. Her mother was born on December 13, 1822 in Wayne County, Ohio, near Wooster and died on January 18, 1866. She died in childbirth at the age of forty-three. George Darr was born on July 8, 1828 and died in February or March of 1883. May's father remarried and could no longer keep the family together, so May went to live with Henry and Harriet Jane (Guin) Wilcox, her elder half-sister and her husband. In 1876, at the age of sixteen, May followed in the steps of her older sisters and began to teach school. That year, she was also married to Frank Ensign. They had four children: Clarence, Arthur, Edmund and Lee. All children were born near Brush Creek, Iowa. Frank died and left May a widow at the age of twenty-four with four small boys from six months to seven years of age to rear. After being a widow for nearly five years, May married Daniel Harley St John at Brush Creek on February 18, 1889. A short time later, the family moved to McCracken in Ness County, Kansas and developed a farm. They then became the parents of six children: Leona, May, Frank, Mabel Della, Eva "Jean" and Eleanor. After living in Kansas for twenty years, they moved the family to Snohomish, Washington in 1908 where they remained the rest of their lives.
