Description	:	Mrs. Steever, nee Tatje Javers, was born in Germany on Dec.22, 1868, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Poppe Javers. When two years of age she came to America with her parents,who settled at Ackley, Iowa. There she grew to young womanhood. In 1887 the family came to Dakota Territory and settled on a farm north of Lennox. On March 12, 1889 she was united in marriage to Dieka Poppinga and the couple went to housekeeping on a farm north of town, where she lived for eight years. This union was blessed with two children. ... Read More	Mrs. Steever, nee Tatje Javers, was born in Germany on Dec.22, 1868, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Poppe Javers. When two years of age she came to America with her parents,who settled at Ackley, Iowa. There she grew to young womanhood. In 1887 the family came to Dakota Territory and settled on a farm north of Lennox. On March 12, 1889 she was united in marriage to Dieka Poppinga and the couple went to housekeeping on a farm north of town, where she lived for eight years. This union was blessed with two children. Mr. Poppinga passed away on April 23, 1898. On Dec. 31, 1900 she was married to Joe Steever, and the couple lived on a farm east of town for 23 years. This union was blessed with three sons all of whom survive. In 1923 the family took up their residence in Lennox and here she lived for 22 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, who died in infancy. Deceased is survived by her husband and five sons, namely, Bert D. and Peter D. Poppinga, Henry and Clarence Steever, all of Lennox, and Harry Steever of Sioux Falls; seven brothers, Fred Javers, Centerville; Fritz Javers, Harrisburg; Enno Javers, Tea; Bob Javers, Chancellor; Hisko, John and Willie Javers, Lennox; and eleven grandchildren.
