Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa. He was born March 17, 1922, in Guymon to August Charles and Artie Asenith Burkey Wiedman and died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009. Read More	Enid, OK — The graveside service for Charles August Wiedman, 87, of Kiowa, Kan., will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, in Riverview Cemetery, east of Kiowa. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home Inc., Kiowa. He was born March 17, 1922, in Guymon to August Charles and Artie Asenith Burkey Wiedman and died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009. He lived most of his life in Kiowa. He attended Mulberry Center country school and graduated from Kiowa High School in 1939. He attended College of Emporia and completed a machinist course in Wichita, Kan. He then was drafted into the Army, where he served as a medic and surgery tech for the 103rd Division. He was a prisoner of war, captured in the Battle of the Ardennes at Selestate, France, on Dec. 3, 1944, and was freed in May 1945. He returned to Kiowa following the war and worked at various jobs. He married Nola Yvonne Scott July 1, 1950. He was a welder and machinist, builder of metal buildings and barns in the Kiowa area and did gun repairs. Surviving are his wife, Nola; one daughter, Becky Cole of Cherokee; and two sisters, Florence Blake of Dallas and Peggy Wiedman Casper of Omaha, Neb. He was preceded in death by one brother. Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Congregational United Church of Christ or Kiowa Manor
