Read More	Twigg Funeral Home Teddy Joe Shoesmith (Ted) was born June 12, 1938 to Vinton Otto Shoesmith and Agnes Irene (Stookesberry) Shoesmith in Exira Iowa. He passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016, at the age of 77 at Panora Nursing and Rehab Center in Panora, Iowa. After graduating from Guthrie Center High School, Ted married Lila Martin on May 27, 1956 at the Presbyterian Church in Audubon, Iowa. They farmed the Shoesmith family farm west of Guthrie Center for 11 years. In 1967 Ted began working for Steensen Gas and Electric Company delivering LP fuel to many cherished customers. Ted continued his LP delivery service for PelGas from 2001 to 2010 when he finally retired at the age of 72. Ted loved to tease his grandsons, nieces and nephews. He enjoyed playing cards with family, camping and socializing with family and friends. Ted was a hard worker and taught the value of a strong work ethic to his children and grandchildren. Ted and Lila were preparing to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Friday, May 27, 2016. Ted passed away one hour before their diamond anniversary. Ted was preceded in death by his parents Vinton and Agnes Shoesmith and his four sisters and their spouses Dorothy (Keith) Covault-Raney, Wilma (Melvin) Rosenberger, Wavah (Delbert) Stetzel and Patricia (Lloyd Jr.) Marsh. Ted will be remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. While in the nursing home, he shared with his family his appreciation for the many people who were praying for him and that he could feel their prayers like a loving hug wrapped around him.
