She was born on March 25, 1913 at rural Filley and attended Cedar Bend Country School. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She worked on the family farm until her marriage to Fred Johnsen on October 25, 1934 at Zion Lutheran Church. Johnsen, 95 years of age, of Beatrice, died Sunday morning, February 8, 2009 at the Parkview Center in Beatrice. She was born on March 25, 1913 at rural Filley and attended Cedar Bend Country School. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Pickrell. She worked on the family farm until her marriage to Fred Johnsen on October 25, 1934 at Zion Lutheran Church. They lived and farmed in the Beatrice and Pickrell areas until moving into Beatrice in 1967. She then worked as a nurse's aide at the Beatrice State Developmental Center and the Beatrice Community Hospital until her retirement. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church and Christ Lutheran Church both of rural Pickrell and Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice where she was a member of the Charity Circle of the church and the quilting group. She enjoyed playing cards, listening to music and crocheting. Survivors include two sons, Raymond Johnsen and wife Myrna and Duane Johnsen all of Beatrice; two daughters, Rose-Ann Parde and husband Kenneth of Beatrice and Darlene Remmers and husband Larry of Pickrell; ten grandchildren Deborah (Clayton) Wells, Carol (Larry) Vetrovsky, Scott Parde, Terry (Jodi) Johnsen, Rhonda (Robyn) Riekenberg, Lori (Steve) McKoen, Janelle (Terry) Ideus, Paul Remmers and fiancée Shellie, Tim (Theresa) Johnsen, Jeremy Johnsen and fiancée Rachel; 15 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Hannah Waltke of Beatrice and one sister-in-law, Frieda Wallman of New Castle, Wyoming. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jurgen and Margaret Dorn Wallman; her husband, Fred who died on October 12, 1991; twin sons, Harvey and Harold Johnsen; two brothers, Ehme Wallman and John Wallman; two sisters, Grace Johnsen and Anna Blobaum. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 10, 2009 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Donald Legacie officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held at 1:15 P.M. in the fellowship room of the church. A memorial has been established to Holy Cross Lutheran Church with Melvin and Emma Evers in charge. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home until 9:00 P.M. Monday and then at the church one hour preceding the service on Tuesday. A guestbook for signatures and messages of condolence is available online at http://www.foxfuneralhome.net.
