Aden ________________ Christmas was saddened for members of Mrs. Tena Aden's family because of her death at 7:30 p.m., Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, 1964. She had been in failing health for many months, and recently had entered the hospital in Syracuse, where she died at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 29 days. Tena, daughter of Johann Meyer and Johanna Westerbuhr Meyer, was born February 25, 1882 near Elk Creek, Nebraska. She grew to young womanhood in the home of her parents near Elk Creek. She was baptized in infancy by Pastor Wm. Beckmann in St. James Lutheran church in Long Branch, and was confirmed there by Pastor Ludwig Mueller on March 29, 1896. She was married to Ekke F. Aden on February 21, 1912 in this same church, with the Rev. E. F. Geyer officiating. The family home was established at Niles, Kansas, but the couple soon moved to Crab Orchard and lived there a few years. In January of 1919 they moved to a farm southwest of Sterling, where they lived for 27 years. In 1946 they retired from the farm and came to live in Sterling. Mr. Aden died July 20, 1956. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Aden and all survive their parents. They are: John F. C. Aden of 1721 Sewell Street, Lincoln; Annetta (Mrs. Harvey Giesmann) of Sterling, Paul Aden of Syracuse, and Oleta (Mrs. Robert Bailey) of North Bend, Oregon. There are also 13 grandchildren, and many other relatives. Mrs. Aden was a member of St. John American Lutheran church in Sterling, and it was there that her funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 29. The Rev. Kenneth Rust officiated. Mrs. John Goldenstein was organist. Mrs. Belden Christline and Mrs. Orville Wusk sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Jesus Saviour pilot Me." Burial was in the church cemetery.
