Mrs. Detlef Kroeger, resident of Audubon for more than ten years and of Audubon county since 1868, died suddenly last Thursday afternoon while visiting relatives in Kansas. At the time of her death, she was aged 73 years, 6 months, and 19 days. She is survived by a sister, four children and seventeen grandchildren. The remains were brought to the home of her son, Henry Kroeger, of Exira, funeral services being held on Monday afternoon at 1:30, at the Congregational church at that place in charge of Rev. Guy J Fansher of the Audubon M. E. church. A mixed quartet sang two hymns and a duet was rendered by the two ladies of the quartet. burial was made at the cemetery near the family home, midway between Exira and Adair. Teno Tibben was born April 7, 1850 in the province of Hanover, Germany. She came to this country with her parents when a child, the family settling at Port Byron, Ill. She was married to Detlef H. Kroeger at Davenport, Iowa on March 23, 1869. They resided in Illinois until September 1868 [sic], when they moved to this county, settling in Audubon township, close to what was then known as Indian Grove. They resided on a farm there until 1901, when they rented their farm and moved to Adair, in 1911 they moved to Exira, where they resided until Mr. Kroeger's death, which occurrd in the fall of that year. Since that time, she has made her home in Audubon township. She died October 25, 1923, while on a visit to relatives in Kansas, being 73 years, 6 months and 19 days of age at the time of her death. To herself and husband six children were born, being: Mrs. Agnes Wedemeyer, who died in 1914; William of Grover, Colo.; Henry T., of Exira; Mrs. Anne Graham of Audubon; Mrs. Aneta Parker of Audubon township; and Charley, who died in infancy. Besides the children above named she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Sturdevan, of Vernon, Kansas, and by seventeen grandchildren. She united with the Evangelical church, which was held in Audubon township near her home in the early days. After moving to Adair she transferred her membership to the M. E. church, with which organization she continued a consistent member until her death.
