Read More	Teri Ellen Gaikowski, 64 Rapid City Journal, The (SD) - Friday, September 7, 2012 RAPID CITY \| Teri Gaikowski, 64, of Rapid City, SD passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital after being diagnosed with the lung disease COPD, several years ago. Teri Ellen Gaikowski was born June 14, 1948 to J. Robert (Bob) and Frances (Samson) Bartos at Peabody Hospital in Webster, South Dakota. She was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Webster. Teri was raised in Webster and graduated Webster High School in 1966. She married Roger Gaikowski on October 8, 1966 and remained wed for 20 years until Roger passed away in 1986. Teri and Roger started their lives living and working in Aberdeen, South Dakota, Mandan and Fort Yates, North Dakota. During that time, they had three children; Brandi, Kash, and Dusty. Teri and Roger later moved to Hysham, Montana to ranch and then on to Wyoming where they lived in Dubois and Riverton. Roger worked for Riverton Valley Electric and was known for shoeing horses, announcing and auctioneering. Teri was fortunate to be able to raise her family and enjoy being a homemaker. She could always make something out of absolutely nothing. Teri was a favorite room mother, catechism teacher, 4-H horse leader and rodeo mom. During the summer, she worked for the Fremont County Fair Board as an office manager. In 1990 following Roger's death, Teri moved to Waterloo, Iowa and started work for the National Cattle Congress as an entries associate. Upon completion of the exposition for the year Teri moved into the Waterloo Greyhound Park segment of the complex as public relations manager in charge of marketing and group sales for the facility. Her pride and joy of all of her working years was managing the Electric Park Ballroom where she managed all operational and financial aspects of the 8,000 square foot historical facility coordinating approximately 300 events a year. In 1999, her managing skills drew her to Woodlands Race Park in Kansas City, Kansas, a dog and horse racing complex where she continued public relations as well as food and beverage management. 2001 brought Teri back to Wyoming to spend time with new grandkids and family. Rapid City, South Dakota became home in 2004 where she continued to work part time. Teri loved her kids, her husband, horses and especially her dogs. NASCAR was a usual weekend highlight. She knew the cars, drivers, crews and tracks. Teri has given us so many wonderful memories and stories that she is a part of. Always so well spoken and put together. Everything she did was done with precision and purpose. As independent as one could be. Respected by all who knew her yet so humble about a job well done. A true example of grace and strength. She believed that God gives the best to those who leave the choice to him. Proud survivors include one daughter, Brandi (Tom) Hiser of Yoder, Wyoming; two sons, Kash Gaikowski of Brighton, Colorado, Dustin Gaikowski of Rapid City, South Dakota; one sister, Nancy (Dennis) Jeske of Rochester, Minnesota; nieces, Tiffany Jeske Sundeen, Fargo, North Dakota, Teri Jeske Duford, Dayton, Ohio, Toni Jeske Vanden Bos and one brother, Rock (Debo) of Sugar Land, Texas; and two grandchildren, Rockie and Clay Hiser. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
