Terry is survived by two sons, Bo Ryan (and Nicole) Hartley of Gulfport, Mississippi and Zachary Gene (and Whitney) Boehme of Springfield, Illinois; a daughter, Samantha Lynne Hartley of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Linda Kay (and John) Hey of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and seven grandchildren. He owned Rheinschmidt’s Carpet Center since 1976. Prior to that he taught school in Burlington, Iowa for three years. He was a 1966 graduate of Cedar Rapids Prairie High School and a 1970 graduate from Northwest Missouri State University. Terry was a member of the Harvest Church of God in East Galesburg, Illinois. He was very active in the Church and ran its youth program. He was also a member of the Western Illinois Builders Association. He was a former member of the Elks Club in Burlington, the Galesburg Lions Club, the Galesburg American Business Men’s Club. He was a past president of the Burlington Jaycees. He was a T-ball coach in Galesburg and a wrestling coach in Burlington. He was a member and past president of the Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity. He was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He was president of the Knox County Humane Society for ten years. In his youth, he was active in 4-H, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts. He wrestled in high school and college. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and NASCAR fan. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Darrell Garrett officiating. Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Chapel. After cremation, he will be interred in the Shueyville Cemetery, Shueyville, Iowa. Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity, the Knox County Humane Society or the Harvest Church of God. Online condolences may be left at www.h-p-w.com.
